Cummins has been fueling its customers’ prosperity with class-leading air handling technology for over 60 years. Cummins Turbo Technologies’ next-generation Series 150 Holset Wastegate turbocharger builds on that history with the launch of the Series 150 Holset Wastegate turbocharger.
The sophisticated Series 150 turbocharger, designed by Cummins Turbo Technologies and produced in Wuxi, China, will be offered to the Chinese light-duty vehicle market in the second quarter of 2021.
With engines spanning from 2.8L to 3.8L and including the latest wastegate technology, the Series 150 caters to typical truck applications for the on-highway light-duty manufacture of automobiles. This turbocharger features a conventional pneumatic wastegate system that is readily connected with electric wastegates. For typical 4.5-6 Ton gross vehicle weight applications, the new turbocharger better supports low-end torque needs and provides increased fuel efficiency advantages at duty cycle zones.
The Series 150 turbocharger outperforms its predecessor and has the following technological advancements:
- Improved next-generation turbine wheel design for improved performance.
- Increased low-end torque, capable of supporting 350-380Nm at 1000rpm.
- Improved turbo efficiency by up to 2% at a duty cycle.
- Improved compressor stage with non-Map width, which provides better low flow performance and can fulfil engine altitude flow standards.
- The ability to connect to an electronic diverter valve actuator.
- Working knowledge of exhaust control valve architecture.
