The 1.6-litre VTEC TURBO retains all of the fuel mileage benefits of a small engine while delivering a smooth sense of empowerment form low to high revs by combining its turbo charger with a direct injection system and variable valve timing mechanism.

Furthermore, the 1.5L VTEC TURBO is intended to operate well even on ordinary fuel, allowing even more consumers to benefit from its advantages.

The Three Critical Technologies of VTEC TURBO

Compact volume engine are fuel efficient and light, but they lack power and torque when compared to larger engines. The power issue is solved by supercharging using a turbo charger.

Honda’s VTEC TURBO achieves great fuel efficiency and thrilling power thanks to three critical technologies: Dual Mooncoin for Intake manifold, Direct Diaphragm Pump with High Tumble Intake Port, and Highly-responsive Turbocharger with Electronic Wastegate.

High Tumble Intake Port and Direct Injection System

The drawback of the turbo engine was that by introducing high-pressure air into the engine, its heat and humidity would rise, resulting in banging. The VTEC TURBO employs spark ignition technology, which injects fuel directly into the cylinders, reducing the temperature within the cylinders due to the vaporisation heat of the gasoline. High tumbled intake ports that improve intake airflow and tumbled flow maintaining pistons enable fuel to be burnt fast and effectively. Knocking is eliminated by the cooling effect of direct injection and the fast combustion provided by strong tumble flow.

Intake and exhaust VTC are both dual.

Older turbo engines were unable of supercharging efficiently at low rpm, resulting in sluggish engine response. Variable Cam Control (VTC) adjusts the timing for intake and exhaust valves to work, regulating the length of time two types motor cylinders are completely open with the VTEC TURBO. This enables for effective supercharging even while the engine is running at low rpm.
