
Although operating, turbos and superchargers mainly help to burn more gas, they can preserve the gas for low-capacity passenger travel, which would otherwise be relatively tiny for accelerating or pulling cars. One approach to achieve this is to reduce pumping losses if a large engine runs at 5% or less – it has to do a great deal to draw air across the mostly closed throttle.
The same amount of power could require a 20% gap in the smaller motor, which culminates in less pumping work.
Why are there so more Turbo styles in production vehicles than superchargers?

What About Twin Turbos, Biturbos, Quad Turbos, And Hot Vees?
Twin-turbo only indicates that two turbochargers are available. These could function independently (as is frequently the case with vehicles, when separate turbos work on either side of the engine), or in series. The small and large turbo are coupled in series, in which case the little turbo sprays fast to reduce turbo lag, then the larger the turbo begins to provide a boost as the exhaust flow grows. Some call it a biturbo (Mercedes brands a lot of its biturbos AMG automobiles) and the latter a twin-turbo, but we’re not distinguished by it. Quad-turbo of course means, as in Bugatti Chiron, there are four of them.
Two pairs of sequential turbochargers use its large W16 motor. For years most turbo-powered vees motors hung turbo-powered off the exhaust collectors on the outside of the motor, with intake air in the Vee Valley. In recent times, the exhaust pipework and the turbos in the vea have pushed in to reverse this and feed intake air into the outside of the vee. This benefits from significantly reduction of the overall size of the motor and can result in reduced underhood temperatures with sufficient hood ventilation.
