Turbochargers, though we all know, are a costly component of a vehicle’s drivetrain and are extremely precisely manufactured. Over time, counterfeit parts have become more physically similar to our real ones, making it more difficult to determine whether you have purchased a genuine or counterfeit part. Although it may be tempting to choose the less costly component if you need to replace something that has broken, this first less expensive decision will often turn out to be the more costly option after all.

As a client, you would want your vehicle to function identically on the first day of possession and the fifteen hundred day of possession. We build turbochargers on highly automated manufacturing lines within the MHI Group to produce the most stable process with the least amount of part-to-part fluctuation. Then, at the end of our manufacturing lines, there is a station named “End of Line.” This station performs a basic but effective functioning check just on the turbocharger to confirm that all parts have been appropriately installed.

Before the OEM may sell the tested and built car, each engine type must be registered with international authorities for permission. They do so based on engine test outcomes and the engine-to-turbocharger connection. Before a product may be sold, each exact combination must be approved. As a result, each counterfeit part technically violates this legislation, which may result in your automobile being declared unlawful and no longer permitted to travel on public roads.
Recognize a counterfeit turbocharger
MHI always includes the part number and tooling details on our casted parts. Some clients additionally have branding needs, which may include a casted OEM logo on one of the pieces, for example.
Unfortunately, counterfeit manufacturers are also paying attention to these nuances and are becoming increasingly proficient at copying these aspects, making the differences virtually hard to detect with the untrained eye. Small variations in material colour are also difficult to detect if the genuine and counterfeit are not displayed side by side. Overall, detecting counterfeit components is becoming increasingly difficult due to the rising “skill” of counterfeit firms.
